Small Cohorts Return for Hands-on Learning
Small cohort groups of Cosmetology and advanced level students from other Edison Academy programs have begun returning for hands-on learning one or two days per week during the months of October and November. We celebrate their return in photos showcased in this blog. As new groups return we will be adding more photos.

In-Person At School Instruction – Form Needed
Parents/guardians who chose in-school instruction for their child will receive a health screening commitment form where you will agree to completing a daily health screening prior to sending your student to school. Forms must be received at school electronically or by hard copy before your child returns to in-school instruction. Students whose parent/guardian have not returned a signed form will be required to complete a health screening and have their temperature taken daily by school staff until the form is received.

In making determinations regarding in-person instruction, FCPS will consider the Centers for Disease Control Core Indicators. View the data.
Service Learning Google Site
The Service Learning Google Site for student support is now up and running. As we progress through the year, more student-focused support resources will be made available. For now, there are four x2VOL support videos to help supplement the material covered in the student x2VOL login lesson. Students are invited to check these Service Learning resources out.

NOVA Virtual Financial Aid Workshops
Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will offer multiple workshops to help students and families with financial aid questions regarding the FAFSA, Financial Literacy, SAP, and more in the months of October and November.
Amazon Web Services Girls Tech Days 2020
Amazon Web Services (AWS) will host a free virtual opportunity called Girls’ Tech Day for female students to explore Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Coding, Virtual Reality, Robotics, and more. The virtual event is free and will motivate girls and young women, ages 8-24, to develop personal interests in technology. Registered participants can join the event any time between November 14 – 28, 2020. A parent or guardian must register participants under 18. Click this announcement to go to the registration link.
No-Cost Meals for All FCPS Students through June 30, 2021
Grab and Go service hours are 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Bus routes for food distribution are operating Monday through Friday. Breakfast and lunch will be available at no-cost Monday-Friday at all schools with in-person instruction. Specific information about meal distribution locations and bus distribution schedules are available.
Parent Technology Help Desk
To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, Fairfax County Public Schools now has a Parent Technology Help Desk. The number is 1-833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS). It will be answered by staff 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. If the help desk is unable to solve the issue on the phone with the parent or guardian, they will enter a ticket on the parent’s behalf and the request for help will be transferred to the appropriate FCPS team.
