Criminal Justice Visits Federal DEA HeadQuarters
Criminal Justice Students Visit Federal Drug Enforcement Administration's Headquarters
Criminal Justice students were treated to outstanding field trips to the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) branch headquarters in March to hear speakers and tour the DEA museum.
One one day the speakers included the Chief of Operations, Ray Donovan, as well as a supervisor of intelligence analysts, a division investigations agent, a senior forensic chemist, a member of the DEA's Special Response Team, and several other DEA agents. Students enjoyed a quick tour of the museum after meeting with the speakers before returning back to school.
Students heard stories about undercover work from the agents as well as hearing about the schooling involved in training to become agent at the Academy at Quantico, VA. Stories of undercover assignments that highlighted the training and willingness to learn new things that is often required of agents such as combat and arms training, language schooling, truck driver CDL license training, and boat driver training.
Student asked questions and learned even more about the tracking of cyber crimes related to drug trafficking on the dark web, balancing personal vs professional life as an agent, and the opportunities for exploring the world through international assignments as a DEA agent.
Students received swag bags of DEA souvenirs and chaperones received a DEA emblem lapel pin.
