December Happenings at Edison Academy
December has been a busy one here at the Academy. Edison Academy students were fortunate to have a number of engaging guest speakers as well as a couple of field trips over the last three weeks. You can find pictures from these activities on our Instagram and Facebook pages
- Our HVAC students completed a major milestone by installing, starting up, and running a Daikin ductless mini-split heat pump—a generous donation from Argent Air Conditioning last year.
- Electrical Construction was fortunate to have a few guests from the Alexandria Army Recruiting Station come to speak on the many career paths within the Army. You can find them on Instagram click here to follow
- Employees from Fairfax County came to visit our Electrical and HVAC students to discuss the career opportunities and benefits when working for Fairfax County.
- Google sent guest speakers to HVAC and Cyber to discuss many of the career opportunities.
- Veterinary Science students visited the Virginia Tech Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg. They were able to observe horses in a medical setting, explore large animal medicine careers, and gain a deeper understanding of veterinary medicine in action. They toured the EMC laboratory and saw a CT machine for horses. Find pictures of the experience
- Academy Ambassadors went to Mark Twain Middle School and spoke to rising 9th grade students about what Edison Academy has to offer. The students did a great job talking about what they love about their classes and how to prepare for their futures. They enjoyed being back at their old middle school, thank you Mr. Patrizio for hosting us!
- Edison hosted their annual Electives Fair and our Academy Ambassadors did a great job speaking to the nearly 300 students who came to our sessions.
