District SkillsUSA Competitions 2023

Congratulations to our Edison Academy students who competed and placed in the District SkillsUSA competitions this winter.

First and Second place winners will advance on to the State Competitions at the Virginia SkillsUSA Conference to be held April 21-23, 2023 in Virginia Beach, VA.   

• First Place Winners in Cosmetology  Nail Care team competition - Jasmin- Castaneda-Gutierrez (West Potomac) and her model, Iris Acevedo Salomon (Annandale)
• First Place Winners in Criminal Justice Crime Scene Investigation competition - Brooke Staab (Hayfield), Ava Weschler (W. Springfield), Nicolas Torres (W. Springfield), and Casey Laycock (Lake Braddock) 
• Fifth Place Winners in Criminal Justice Crime Scene Investigation competition - Cooper Dolphin (Edison), Ru Correa (Edison), Janessa Johnson (Edison), Ashley Castillo (Edison) 
• First place Winner in Residential Electrical Wiring competition - Avery Whitton (W.Springfield) 
• Second Place Winner in Residential Electrical Wiring competition - Adonis Romero Vasquez (Justice) 

We are very proud of all of our students who competed and wish the first and second place winners the best of luck competing at the State level in April for a chance to move on to the National Competitions.
