Sparks Fly at West Springfield: Edison Academy Electrical & Construction Engineering Students in Action!
West Springfield High School buzzed with excitement as Joe Wolfe, Edison Academy's Electrical & Construction Engineering Instructor, led a captivating electrician workshop. John Opperman (Level 1) Javier Anaya (Level 2) and Chris Wilson (Level 2) all WSHS students were there to assist.
Mr. Wolfe, a master electrician with real-world experience, ignited their passion with a hands-on activity of building a simple circuit. Students learned the language of electricity and gained a newfound understanding of the profession. By the end, the workshop wasn't just about circuits and wires; it was about igniting a passion for a fulfilling career. The students left the experience with a newfound skill and the empowering knowledge that they could build their future, one spark at a time.
Mr. Wolfe has conducted this project at West Springfield HS since 2019 and continued every year since (except for 2020 due to COVID-19). He has also conducted this project at Justice High School and Hayfield Secondary School.
Thank you to Mrs. Rebecca Cousins, Employment and Transition Representative (WSHS) & Educate Fairfax for continuing this yearly program and experience for the students at West Springfield High School.
