Formerly A+ Level 2
Building on the foundation of Cyber: Exploring IT, this advanced course provides students with training in procedures for optimizing and troubleshooting concepts for computer systems and subsystems. Computer based training software, coupled with plentiful hands-on experience, prepare the student to install, troubleshoot, repair and upgrade computer equipment. Students explore wireless technologies (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) and create and configure a network. The program specializes in all aspects of the end user device, including but not limited to PCs, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, networking and security equipment. Emphasis is placed on technical proficiency, skill-building, and workplace readiness. The successful graduate of this program will be ready to pursue work in either the electronics / computer industries or further academic training in post-secondary educational institutions. Upon successful completion of the course, students may qualify to take the CompTIA A+ certification exams. Students are also encouraged to join FBLA and/or participate in the Business Cooperative Internship Program.

The Computer Systems Tech curriculum enhances the rigor and relevance of academic programs by integrating the technical subject matter and professional skills that employers are demanding in the 21st century workplace. Students also learn and apply higher- order thinking skills that mirror the level of excellence expected in higher education. Using the latest online learning technologies, students demonstrate valuable skills that will give them an advantage in pursuing these types of future careers and more: Computer User Support Specialists, Network Administrator, Systems Engineer/Analyst, Management Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineer, Computer and Information Research Scientists.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 13 percent from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. These occupations are projected to add about 667,600 new jobs. Demand for these workers will stem from greater emphasis on cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security. The median annual wage for computer and information technology occupations was $97,430 in May 2021, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $45,760.
