Jim Corridon Electric visits in Electrical Construction & Engineering
Chris Corridon, owner of Jim Corridon Electric, and Owen Collins, former electrical trades students from Edison Academy, now a foreman with Corridon, recently spoke to students about the electrical industry, giving insight into the day to day work of an electrical business, the diversity of career specialties in the trade, as well as advice for career advancement.
Students were advised to look for employers who offered not only a good apprenticeship training program but also reimbursement for education to advance in the trade to become masters and to earn certifications for specializations in the trade, for example, fire alarm systems, overhead outdoor installations, power line and telecommunications work.
Students also learned about the need for good communication skills particularly important for building good relations with customers and the need for a strong work ethic being responsible, dependable, and reliable as well as doing good electrical work.
Thank you to our speakers who made a great impression on our students.
