The 2023 State Fair SkillsUSA Competition did not disappoint! Edison Academy students traveled to Dowell, VA to participate and support their fellow academy members in this annual event. Students from the Electrical Construction & Engineering and HVAC & Refrigeration programs competed.

Congrats to Landon Bradstreet (Hayfield SS) and Thomas Umana-Marquez (Edison HS) that placed during their event! Landon took 1st Place in the Residential Wiring competition and Thomas placed 9th!

Three of our HVAC-R teams also placed!

• 6^th-Team One: Jacob Butts (South County HS) & Trent Pargoe (Justice HS)
• 8^th- Team Two: Logan Mast (West Springfield HS) & Carlos Rodriquez Soto (Lewis HS)
• 10^th- Team Three: Tyler Nigro & Brandon Mills (both South County HS)

Students were able to experience everything from arts & crafts, horticulture, livestock, live entertainment, rides and of course the best thing of all...good ol' fair favorites like fried, Oreos, funnel cake and so much more!
