Students of the Quarter for the second grading period were recognized and received certificates from their teacher and the Academy Administrator.

On January 11, 2019, ECE Students excitedly greeted the Dominion Electric Supply truck to accept delivery of donated materials for their classroom lab. Donations are generously provided through our partnership with Dominion Electric Supply and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #26.

Edison Academy will host an Open House on Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for prospective students and their family for the 2019-2020 school year. Students are invited to drop in for a visit to explore the exciting programs we have to offer here at Edison Academy. Students and their families will be able to tour our state-of-the-art facilities, meet our Academy instructors and staff, and see demonstrations performed by current students in our labs and classrooms.

IBEW Local #26 and Dominion Electric Supply are longtime sponsors and supporters of the Electrical Construction and Engineering (ECE) program at Edison Academy. Students were excited to receive their recent donation of tools.

On December 8, 2018 Culinary Arts students hosted a Gingerbread workshop for local youth and their families to help them create gingerbread houses to take home for the holidays.

Students were recognized for their accomplishments in Edison Academy classes during the first quarter.

Local Fairfax County Residents wrote a two-page letter commending the professionalism and courteous service provided by two building inspectors-in-training who are June 2018 graduates of the Electrical Construction and Engineering program here at Edison Academy.

Despite a surprise weather event, the Apprenticeships and Skilled Workforce Career Fair had another successful year of hosting exhibitors and employers who shared information about careers that are attainable through professional certifications, on-the-job training, and apprenticeship programs with our students, parents, staff, and community.

The US Parks Police Mounted Unit visited with Criminal Justice students recently to share information about their work and how their horses are used for policing in our United States National Parks.

Three Automotive Technology graduates from 2018 who interned with the Fairfax County Government Department of Vehicle Services during their senior year accepted full-time positions with FFX. Co. DVS after graduation.

In School Year 2018-2019 Students in Auto Collision took on a project to do body work and a paint job for a race car owned by Joe Rollins. Students were excited to take on this project where they were to add a hood scoop to the top of the car to help provide more oxygen to the carburetor. They were also tasked to give the car a new look with a paint job. Special projects like this are education as well as enlightening and fun for our students.

Students in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration class recycle refrigerant drums for Halloween.
